An environment with a diverse but small amount of work should provide suitable conditions for the HP Deskjet 2722 printer. The multifunctional equipment is just a simple entry-level model and can not only print inkjet colors, but also scan and copy.
The simple device, which works with a combination color cartridge, is designed for home use. However, in a moderately demanding environment, access is possible from a small user group of up to three members.
The WLAN connectivity offers flexibility for interaction with multiple end devices. In addition, the compact design supports space-saving storage in a small space. The printer’s print speed is slow – the worst in the test. Printing a fairly heavy PDF on 14 pages takes 17 seconds per page.
Even for a color photo of 10 x 15 centimeters, the printer is the slowest at 38 seconds. At a leisurely snail’s pace, the printer produces a maximum of 7.5 black-and-white or 5.5 color prints per minute. At 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, the image quality should be sufficient for average requirements.
When scanning, the depth of detail drops to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. The HP Deskjet 2722 achieves a resolution of 600 x 300 dpi and tests the user’s patience with a meager output of only six monochrome or three-color copies per minute.
Scanners and copiers accept originals on the flatbed. Paper management is one-sided only and accepts print media from an open 60-sheet input tray. The recommended print volume is only 100 pages per month.
Setup is quick and smooth, and the app (which is in Swedish) is educational and easy to use. Installing the print cartridges is easy, but unfortunately HP has chosen to combine the colors cyan, yellow and magenta in one color cartridge.
Granted, this makes a change a little smoother, but it’s uneconomical as the whole cartridge has to be replaced at once if one of the colors runs out.
The software for the HP Deskjet 2722 is simple, clear and easy to use and both copying and scanning work well.
