With the Envy 110, HP tries not to make the world of multifunction devices seem so austere. Rather, design rules with Envy. This has been achieved on some points such as the cabinet, the materials used and the display.

However, the manufacturer still has work to do on the inside. Features such as the integrated duplexer are commendable, but have to accept criticism due to the reduced print image.

There are obvious shortcomings in the insufficient pace of work. The printer actually offers everything you could wish for. However, unlike the other monsters, it is very compact and looks very good on the Mac desktop.

Printing from iPhone, iPad or other smartphones is no problem thanks to the various options (AirPrint & print). You can even send faxes over the Internet, although that is not so easy to set up here.

The HP ENVY 110 produced decent coverage on the paper when printing and copying. The color scheme was also harmonious. Photos could have been a little brighter, but they had harmonious colors.

Still, there was reason for criticism: when printing double-sided, the multifunction device visibly reduced the size of the printed matter. The test scans weren’t entirely convincing either: they lost depth of field too quickly.

The fact that the basic functions of printing, scanning and copying are no longer sufficient for a multifunction device is especially true for the printer.

In the flat but deep housing, HP has placed a duplex unit for automatic double-sided printing. In addition to USB, the combination printer offers WLAN in the fast 11n version.

If it is integrated into the wireless network, it can be assigned its own e-mail address via ePrint. Print jobs can be sent from mobile devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs without drivers via the cloud to the multifunction device.

The HP ENVY 110 can also be used for faxing. Instead of a telephone line, the machine uses the web service “eFax”. The app on the touchscreen helps with installation and use.
