The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M480f is a color laser printer for businesses. In terms of price, the device is in the entry-level class and is more suitable for small workgroups of up to ten people.
Especially when it comes to copying, scanning and faxing, the HP printer cuts a good figure, because the automatic document feeder also offers an automatic duplex function and a collection tray for up to 50 pages. Operation is quick and easy thanks to the large touchscreen display.
The standard paper supply includes a cassette for up to 250 sheets and a manual feeder for an additional 50 sheets. An additional cassette is optionally available for a full ream and more (550 sheets).
The print unit offers a native resolution of 1,200 dpi and outputs paper at a speed of up to 27 ipm in color or black and white. With double-sided printing, this is marginally reduced to 24 ipm – equivalent to 12 double-sided sheets.
The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M480f Scanner is based on a CIS sensor with an optical resolution of 600 dpi. This is supported by a dual-duplex ADF with a second sensor and a capacity of 50 sheets.
The maximum scan speed with the low color resolution is 20 ppm in simplex mode and a slightly lower 35 ipm (17.5 ppm) in duplex mode. Scans can be saved directly to the network or sent by email (via an SMTP server).
Optical character recognition (OCR) for searchable PDF documents is available as an add-on. With 2 GBytes, the main memory is significantly larger (instead of 1 GByte).
There is an integrated flash memory with a capacity of 16 GB for buffering many print jobs coming in at the same time. After all, the printed image is clean.
In standby mode, the printer consumes a relatively large amount of power at 21 W. During printing and copying, this exceeds 500 W. Only Ethernet is available for network integration.
The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M480f can be used locally via USB or integrated into a network via Ethernet.
The Mopria and Airprint standards therefore run on top of it. However, wireless access to the printer requires an optional HP USB solution.
