For those who think this means so-called “old school”, NFC and Wi-Fi Direct are also part of the game. The paper tray can hold 100 A4 sheets. There’s also a dedicated photo paper tray, handy for not having to constantly replace the contents of a single tray.
The all-in-one printer can scan, fax and of course print and copy. The HP OfficeJet 5222 offers a decent throughput for office printing (16 ppm in black and white and 12 ppm in color).
The scanner is a bit long to relax as – whether it’s an A4 document or a 10 x 15 photo – the printer takes 20 seconds to display a scanned version on the screen .
However, the presence of the automatic document feeder improves the time it takes to scan and copy a range of pages, even double-sided. All functions can also be controlled with Apple AirPrint and the proprietary HP ePrint app on smartphones and tablets.
This printer is energy efficient. It consumes only 10 W in operation and drops below the Watts in standby. It also stays very quiet, as we find an average of just 46 dB(A), where many struggle to get below 50 dB(A).
All in all, this HP OfficeJet 5222 is a 4-in-1 inkjet that has it all. Connected thanks to Wi-Fi Direct and NFC, equipped with a touch screen and a card reader, it even has the luxury of a rather pleasant design. The Officejet range is aimed at telecommuters and small businesses with modest printing needs.
