The fact is that HP has made a very compact multifunction printer with the HP Deskjet 2725. It should be particularly suitable for users who want to print and scan from their mobile devices. In fact, the printer doesn’t take up much desk space.
This is mainly due to the scanner, which has been reduced to a minimum. The manufacturer calls the technology ‘scroll feed’. This is a kind of feeder scanner with a reading line across the width of the device.
This makes it the width of a DIN A4 sheet and at the same time saves the size of the otherwise usual glass surface. Despite the small size, HP has placed a small text display on the printer. It shows the number of copies and symbols such as the cartridge levels.
There are eight buttons on the control panel, which in turn are only indicated by symbols. Black and white and color copies have their own buttons – that’s good. The biggest advantage of the HP Deskjet 2725 is its design. It finds a place even in the smallest of spaces.
You do have to take into account more space at the front, because the device needs this as a paper shelf. Due to its compact dimensions, the scan unit takes some getting used to.
Only one sheet can be processed via the feeder, which also has to be fed very correctly. Book scans are disappointing. In addition, the HP model is slow in all disciplines and generates expensive page prices. It is therefore only suitable for rare applications.
All in all, more of a nice article than a classic printing, scanning and copying tool. For this, the manufacturer has also released the “Social Media Snapshots” app. It can be used to individually design and print photos from social networks such as Facebook or Instagram.
The app can be downloaded for free for Android, iOS and Windows in the relevant stores. In addition to the USB port, the HP Deskjet 2725 multifunction printer can be connected to the home network via WLAN and also has a WiFi Direct function.
