The 6.75 cm touchscreen fulfills its role, the menus are clear and you quickly get to the point. The paper tray holds 125 A4 sheets, which is the right amount for this type of printer.
There is also a special tray for 10 x 15 photo paper, which is quite practical for not having to fiddle with the guides of the main tray.
The HP ENVY 5644 achieves decent throughput at 16 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white and 12 ppm in color.
However, it’s a little less than what was offered in the other model which indicated respective flow rates of 19 and 13 ppm. Black drying time is always an issue with duplex printing, where throughput drops to 8ppm.
The scan can be performed on a memory card, a computer or an email. The quality of the scanned files is quite good for a material of this range. Scanning an A4 document and a 10 x 15 photo is fast (16 and 20 seconds respectively at 300 dpi).
The copy function is very often a source of output quality degradation. Here the HP ENVY 5644 does justice to the original of the document, with a certain respect for faded and legible images in both color and black and white.
A very good point. With 19 seconds to perform a black and white copy and 26 seconds for color, the copy mode speeds are correct.
The connection of the HP ENVY 5644 is provided by a USB connection and Wi-Fi. An SD card reader makes it easy to print photos, even if one dreams of a slightly larger screen for better viewing.
The USB port for external devices (USB key for example) is unfortunately still not there.
