This printer is very easy to understand and has a flatbed scanner hidden under the hood; a second hatch provides easy access to the cartridge locations. This is also where a paper guide module can be removed to access the drive rollers in the event of a paper jam.

The double paper tray, easily accessible from the bottom, contains an A4 paper slot that can be loaded with up to 125 plain sheets (80 gsm), as well as a second slot reserved for small special formats (up to 13 x 18cm).

Usually we leave something here to always have the option to print on 10 x 15 photo paper. The HP ENVY Photo 7820 All-in-One is a photo printer that is versatile.

The printer offers a resolution of 4,800 x 1,200 dpi and therefore has a high resolution compared to alternatives. It has a print speed of up to 10 pages per minute and without borders.

The printer also offers an SD card reader and a USB host port; documents and photos can therefore be printed directly from an external storage medium.

To serve the overall design of the product, HP chose to hide these two locations behind a small round pivot door. The idea is not a bad one, except that the cutout of this access seems a bit too small to us and could potentially hinder access to the card reader.

Nothing catastrophic, but the ergonomics could have been better thought out on this detail point. All controls are entrusted to a touch screen. Responsive, readable and displaying full and well-organized menus, it still would have benefited from being a little bigger.

Some competing models go up to 9.8cm diagonal on this range, where the HP ENVY Photo 7820 has to settle for a 6.7cm screen. This all-in-one printer comes with a device driver on CD and, like its predecessors, with many connections.

The other connections are located on the back of the product. There is a USB 2.0 Type-B connector, an RJ45 port and two RJ11 ports to manage the fax function. The printer naturally offers a Wi-Fi module (Wi-Fi Direct compatible), which is also used when the product is switched on for the first time. HP relies on its new HP Smart application to help users configure the HP ENVY Photo 7820 printer, easily connect it to their local network, and guide them through cartridge installation and calibration.
