In terms of both speed and features, the HP PageWide Color MFP 774dn multifunction device is currently the best of the best. The print quality and ergonomics are also convincing. Multifunction color laser devices are primarily designed to print as many pages as possible quickly in a way that conserves ink.
Quality often suffers, resulting in excellent text and photo prints without any visible fading or banding. Especially with the standard settings and fine printing, the LaserJet cannot keep a piece of cake. However, the machine has problems with simple copies. The quality is certainly sufficient for everyday office life, but if you look very closely, the edges of the letters appear blurry.
The LaserJet applies a little too thick ink here. In any case, the copy times are convincing: a black-and-white copy is in the output tray after just 10 seconds and a graphic copy after just 13 seconds.
A special highlight of the HP PageWide Color MFP 774dn is the ADF document feeder for up to 50 sheets, which the printer can read from both sides thanks to two scanning lines without having to turn the sheets mechanically. This saves time and enables fast copying.
There are also extensive network functions, a duplexer and an integrated fax machine. Operation is intuitive and easy to understand. Particularly useful is the rotatable 10.6 inch touchscreen, with which the printer can be fully operated.
As with all current multifunction devices, the CIS scanner shows minor weaknesses when the HP PageWide Color MFP 774dn books copies.
The lack of depth of field makes the letters in the book, hovering slightly above the scanning window, appear a bit washed out.
