The HP Photosmart 7520 is an equally efficient device, adding a number of useful features such as a dedicated fax machine and an additional front USB port for use with external storage drives.

In terms of design and features, this printer combines the functionality of a printer, scanner, and copier in a low-profile matte black chassis, matching HP’s current design aesthetic.

On this printer, HP continues the touch screen trend, with a 4.33-inch color screen on the far left of the device.

The graphical color screen is similar in shape to the iPhone shape with a rectangular screen mounted on a rounded housing, with backlit virtual buttons to aid navigation and selection.

While the screen sensitivity has indeed been increased over previous HP touchscreen printer models, it’s still error-prone if you need to scroll through the landscape menu bar.

Unless you start swiping your finger around the outside of the screen, the menus tend to keep moving even after you take your finger off the screen.

The top of the printer has an automatic document feeder (ADF), which you can use to scan any number of documents, although it’s limited to just 25 sheets at a time.

The 125-sheet paper tray is located on the bottom of the machine and there is a 20-sheet tray on the top for 4 × 6 in. and 5 × 7 in. media.

This printer can print six black and white pages per minute and produces nearly four color pages per minute. Fortunately, this printer does not sacrifice quality for speed either.

This produces great dark black text for even smaller fonts that rival laser printers. Images and photo colors are also very accurate, but the resulting copies of the photos are a bit blurry.

We recommend reprinting from a digital source if you need another copy. In addition to using a direct USB connection, you can set up the HP Photosmart 7520 on your network via Wi-Fi, which also makes it easy for Apple users to connect via AirPrint on compatible iOS devices.

With AirPrint, you can print photos from your iPhoto library by simply selecting the connected printer and pressing the Print button.

Unfortunately, HP eliminated the Ethernet port in an effort to push for a cloud printing feature that only worked on Wi-Fi networks.

The Wi-Fi connection process is easy enough to navigate through the initial setup screen, using the instructions on the driver CD. HP’s new Auto Wireless Connect reduces installation time to less than two minutes – if you make your network visible.

If you set the network to private, you can also manually enter your network username and password on the virtual QWERTY keyboard and the printer will connect immediately.

In addition to Apple AirPrint, this printer also features HP’s ePrint technology that allows you to send jobs from any device connected to the printer using a unique specified email address.

You can even navigate settings and change your email address to make it easier for friends and family you trust to take control of your printer.

First, the HP Photosmart 7520 printer must be turned on and connected to your network. Second, it cannot print web pages, but as a workaround, you can copy and paste the text into the document. You can even create your own email address.
