The current gaming monitor mainstream consists of 27-inch monitors with WQHD resolution and 144 Hz. They are available with IPS, VA or TN panels.

As great as their popularity is the range of devices available in the market. This offer also includes HP’s X27i 2K monitor. With its IPS panel, it seeks the favor of the gamers.

HP assumes a subtle appearance, which the manufacturer achieves with a predominantly black monitor. Unlike many of its competitors, it does not emphasize its gaming character with red accents.

Instead, Hewlett Packard relies on a green light bar that supports the monitor’s angular design language. The monitor’s green accents are atypical for HP models.

However, the combination of red and black is reserved for the more expensive and better equipped gaming monitors from the HP gaming brand Omen.

The stand convinces with practical functions: it not only makes it possible to tilt the screen horizontally by a total of 24 degrees, but also to adjust the height of the screen by 13 centimetres.

Since it can be rotated up to 90 degrees, it is also possible to work in pivot or portrait mode. You are not wrong with IPS, WQHD resolution and 144 Hz, because the built-in panel offers an excellent compromise between still and moving image quality.

The image of the HP X27i monitor also makes a good impression after the measurements. This is partly due to the low black value of 0.269 cd/m² for IPS panels in combination with the maximum brightness of around 331 cd/m².

Both together provide an above-average contrast value of 1,230:1 and result in correspondingly rich colors. At the same time, the minimum brightness of the HP is quite low below 55 cd/m².

This means that the screen does not dazzle the user even in darkened rooms. Anyone who doesn’t compete with other players in high-speed shooters will be pleased with the monitor’s moving graphics.

The fact that the moving image of the HP is almost streak-free is due to overdrive technology. Manufacturers apply extra voltage to the liquid crystal panel for better response times.

As a result, the crystals align faster, which means fewer streaks. 144 Hertz is the current standard for gaming monitors. Those who want more should take this into account in their budget.

However, it is important that the synchronization between the monitor and the graphics card, ie Freesync or G-Sync, works properly to prevent screen tearing.

Fortunately, Nvidia has released the G-Sync requirement for its own graphics cards so that they are also compatible with Freesync technology.

Users of the HP X27i monitor are less flexible with its video connections. An HDMI 2.0 and a Displayport 1.4 connection accept video signals.

Apart from a combined headphone/microphone connection, the HP has no other slots.

In short, HP’s X27i monitor is a stylish 27-inch device in its range that uses a powerful IPS panel, which guarantees equally good image quality.

Thanks to the QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, the screen is four times sharper than the usual Full HD competition.

Not only is the panel stable with viewing angles and fast enough for fast-paced shooters – but it also shines bright enough at a maximum of 350 candelas if the sun were to interfere.

With the support of 144 Hz, the monitor is also suitable for ambitious players and e-athletes. DisplayPort and HDMI are minimal for this class of equipment, but still decent.

The stand is fully adjustable and even comes with a height adjuster. All HP X27i monitor manuals available for download from the website owned and operated by HP Manual are copyrighted by HP Official or one of HP’s third-party official distributors.
