The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw multifunction device is a good office worker that convinces in the quality of the prints and scans as well as in the equipment.
The multifunctional color laser device belongs to the current generation of devices that the manufacturer equips with JetIntelligence. The paper cassette has a capacity of up to 150 sheets. This is a bit tight for an office combination device.
In addition, the device cannot be expanded with an optional cassette. HP also cut back on the paper tray – presumably to achieve the device’s compact dimensions. With a maximum capacity of 100 sheets, it can be fine here. The printer achieves average print, scan and copy times, but does justice to the rated speed of 18 pages for black and white and color documents.
It produces harmonious colors that appear streak-free on the paper. The multifunctional color laser device comes with a black cartridge with a range of 1500 pages – this corresponds to a standard refill. However, the colors red, blue and yellow are true entry-level cartridges with a range of only 700 pages each, which is exactly half the normal life of standard cartridges.
When in sleep mode, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw consumes just 2.9 watts – that’s relatively little energy. It goes quickly into run mode, as evidenced by the 15-second print time for a text page from power-saving mode. The printer’s interface equipment with LAN, WLAN and USB, as well as Wi-Fi Direct and NFC, is also impressive.
There is also a USB host connection for external storage media on the front of the device. If we connect a USB stick, we will see folders and photos stored on it.
Navigating is very easy using the foldable touchscreen. We can print photos and documents from the stick, but also store scans on it. The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw has no problem with JPG, PDF, DOCX file formats, but cannot handle PNGs.
At the same time, only a PCL driver is included in the delivery. The scan driver has been given a new user interface with a more modern look, but one phenomenon has not changed, the scan preview still lasts for a relatively long time, namely 11 seconds.
