The HP Jet Fusion 580 is an industrial 3D printer developed by Hewlett-Packard, a company based in the US. This additive manufacturing system is part of the HP Jet Fusion series.
HP claims that this 3D printer series is able to print functional structures directly in the colors the user wants, something that previous 3D printers could not do.
HP also promises that the printing of functional structures will reach the voxel level (the size of the resolution for 3D) and will happen very soon.
HP’s Jet Fusion 3D printer series uses a multi-agent binder jetting 3D printing process for fully functional, engineering parts or prototypes.
This means that the 3D printer applies different types of agents to each layer of the base material. HP claims that the 3D printer will generate a major production boost in various industrial sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing and automotive.
This printer is especially for users who need larger 3D prints or more intensive production requirements. The first agent binds the particles of the base material together to form one layer of the final object.
Next, the HP Jet Fusion 580 3D printer applies a detailing agent to ensure smooth surfaces and fine details. Other means are available to control the color, texture, density, translucency, and even electrical conductivity of the base material.
The 3D printer applies these Voxel Transforming Agents voxel by voxel. Thanks to the detailing agent, 3D printed surfaces are significantly smoother than with other 3D printing technologies.
HP Jet Fusion 580 3D printers automatically extract and reuse leftover material. HP also wants to emphasize that Multi Jet Fusion technology can control the shape of the structure down to the voxel level.
That means previously untouched designs and productions can now be printed and produced in a variety of colours. This is good news for many manufacturers.
