The HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M528dn is equipped with 1,280 MB RAM. This can optionally be expanded to a maximum of 2,816 MB. For intensive use in the network, an encrypted hard disk with 320 GByte has also been installed, which can buffer incoming print jobs.
Like its predecessor series, the printer itself operates at the highest possible scan speed of 1,200 dpi at a print speed of up to 43 ipm in A4 mode.
With double-sided printing, the speed is reduced to 34 ipm. The first printed page in operational status should be in the output tray in 5.2 seconds. From the energy-saving sleep mode, that is 6.7 seconds.
The model is factory-equipped with a 550-sheet cassette (up to 120 gsm) and a 100-sheet manual feed for heavier media up to 199 gsm.
Optionally, up to three additional paper cassettes can be connected and the paper stock can be expanded to a maximum of 2,300 sheets from five input trays.
Double-sided printing is standard, while a print margin of at least 4.3 mm per side cannot be undershot.
The paper output is designed for a maximum of 250 sheets (or ten envelopes, for example) and this model is equipped with an automatic stapling function.
The basic multifunctional functions of the HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M528dn include not only scanning, copying, but also integrated fax.
The Enterprise can process original documents with a capacity of up to 100 sheets automatically and double-sided in one go (dual-duplex ADF). HP does not specify the scanning speed, but an ultrasonic sensor is installed that can automatically detect multiple feeds and counteract accordingly.
Operation is via an 8-inch color display with a touch-sensitive surface. In addition, there is a slide-out keyboard for better configuration of extensive workflows or entry of storage locations, e-mail addresses and the like.
In addition to a USB port and network integration via Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and WiFi direct are standard in the top model.
There is also a host USB connection on the front for reading documents or saving scans on the HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M528dn. WiFi is standard (in addition to Gigabit Ethernet and USB) including support for WiFi direct and Bluetooth LE.
As is often the case with pure printers, the memory of 512 MB (option of 1,536 MB) is less than memory-hungry multifunction systems.
In addition to PCL and Postscript, complex PDF documents can also be processed directly without the intervention of a computer.
