HP LaserJet Enterprise M506dn is ideally suited for high-output workgroups or small offices. Despite its compact dimensions, the black and white printer still offers a high paper capacity. However, you have to compromise on handling.
The touch-enabled color display is often slow to respond to input, and the overall impression isn’t particularly intuitive. The printer itself works just like its predecessor series with the highest possible scan speed of 1,200 dpi at a print speed of up to 43 ppm in A4 mode.
With double-sided printing, the speed is reduced to 34 ipm. The first printed page in operational status should be in the output tray in 5.2 seconds. It’s 6.7 seconds from low power sleep mode.
The HP LaserJet Enterprise M506dn equipped with a 550-sheet cassette (up to 120 gsm) and a 100-sheet bypass tray for heavier media up to 199 gsm. Optionally, up to three additional paper cassettes can be connected and the paper stock can be expanded to a maximum of 2,300 sheets from five input trays.
Double-sided printing is standard, while a print margin of at least 4.3 mm per side cannot be undershot. The paper output is designed for a maximum of 250 sheets (or ten envelopes, for example) and this model is equipped with an automatic stapling function. Basic multifunctional functions include not only scanning and copying, but also integrated fax.
This HP LaserJet Enterprise M506dn can process original documents with a capacity of up to 100 sheets automatically and double-sided in one go (dual-duplex ADF).
HP does not specify the scanning speed, but an ultrasonic sensor is installed that can automatically detect multiple feeds and counteract accordingly. In addition to a USB port and network integration via Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and WiFi direct are standard in the top model.
There is also a host USB port on the front for reading documents or saving scans. In addition to PCL and Postscript, complex PDF documents can also be processed directly without the intervention of a computer.
The HP LaserJet Enterprise M506dn is equipped with 1,280 MB RAM. This can optionally be expanded to a maximum of 2,816 MB. For intensive use in the network, an encrypted hard disk with 320 GByte has also been installed, which can buffer incoming print jobs.
