The print head of this HP PageWide Pro 772dw is as wide as a page of paper. This eliminates the need to move the print head to the right and left as with a regular ink printer. Because all ink nozzles are aligned as wide as the pages of the paper, the printing speed is very fast.
This makes it competitive with laser printers. Fewer moving parts make maintaining the PageWide printer easier. This is very useful for companies that often use printers with a fairly high intensity for a long time. Because maintenance costs are minimal.
A large number of nozzles, the super-small nozzle size and the signature (of course) liquid printer ink mean that PageWide needs special ink. HP uses pigment-based inks for PageWide printers.
But no ordinary pigment ink. The ratio of pigment to liquid in the PageWide ink is different from regular pigment inks. HP decided to use a much higher number of pigment particles in the ink for its PageWide printers.
As a result, PageWide printers require less ink volume than regular ink printers to produce the same print. This pigment ink formula is also designed to dry very quickly when exposed to air. This character is required because of the very fast print speed of the HP PageWide Pro 772dw printer.
Of course, a high drying speed can cause problems. Ink can dry on the nozzle or even in storage. To solve this problem, this special pigment ink formula has been developed to produce a kind of film on the nozzle when it dries.
This membrane protects the nozzle and prevents the ink behind it from drying out easily. However, this thin film is also easy to “open” when printing begins. Naturally, about 1 minute after printing has stopped, the nozzle on the PageWide printhead is mechanically closed.
The weakness of HP PageWide Pro 772dw currently lies in usable media. Unlike other printers, PageWide is designed for plain paper.
Paper with an irregular texture may have a problem. Meanwhile, vinyl coated paper also cannot be printed like a laser printer. Indeed, this makes PageWide printers more suitable for using large amounts of plain paper.
