A funny “extension” on the side of the HP Smart Tank Wireless 457 Multifunction Printer shows that it’s not quite like other printers. the expansion is actually four large ink tanks that you need to fill before printing. It’s completely painless.
The four included bottles are equipped with valves that ensure that you do not spill any ink. With full tanks, you can print up to 8,000 pages in color and 6,000 pages in black and white. All bottles have the same capacity as the corresponding tank – except the bottle with black.
That is 135 milliliters, while only 80 fit in the tank. The tanks are transparent, so you can always keep an eye on the remaining amount of ink.
The HP Smart Tank Wireless 457 Printer can be a bit tricky to get started with. It has a small screen on one side, but it’s not touch-sensitive, so you get instructions on how to use the buttons.
They are equipped with somewhat cryptic icons, so you have to guess. The prints are averagely good. Red areas in the photos often take on a slightly yellowish tinge, which makes people look a bit queasy in portraits. Also the sharpness could have been better.
When we compared the prints to the same motifs from other printing companies, it was clear that fine details like hair didn’t seem as sharp. With the economical HP Smart Tank Wireless 457, you can print, copy, and scan in high quality (borderless).
The all-in-one is equipped with a spill-free ink reservoir and the included ink is good. Connecting is easy via a USB cable or wirelessly via Wi-Fi.
