A short HP Tango X guide and user guides – The HP Tango X is a single-function printer with scanning and copying via the HP Smart app. For example, the usual glass surface for placing templates is missing. The Tango is therefore not good for high-quality scans.

At the same time, you don’t have to completely abandon scanning and copying. White housing, flat design, focus on LEDs instead of buttons. The HP Tango X cloth cover is expensive but also noble and dresses the printer in such a way that it is no longer recognizable as an IT device when it is not in use.

The app has been expanded and remains clear. However, it is not yet fully developed at the time of the test: during the test, the smartphone and the printer lose connection again and again without the app reporting this.

The result: you notice that something is wrong because the “Print” field is suddenly not active. Then it usually only helps to restart the app. At the same time, you will receive notifications when the ink or paper runs out.

In terms of ink consumption, the HP Tango X is expensive, even if you use XL cartridges. If you want to print photos, you’ll need to look at the manufacturer’s instant ink offerings, which should omit the photo ink. However, the device is still not suitable for advanced printers.

This may cause too little paper to be stored. The pressure plate will also quickly reach its limits at a higher load. However, the output quality is correct.

As a result, HP’s Tango X manual can help get hardcore smartphone users comfortable with printing. But that alone doesn’t make the HP Tango series a smart home printer.

On the contrary, that it should in principle be addressed by voice assistant Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The prerequisite for commissioning the HP Tango X is the “HP Smart” app, which is available free of charge in the respective stores for Android, iOS and Windows10.

Use the app to connect to the powered HP Tango X for the first time via Bluetooth. To do this, the wireless connection must be activated on your smartphone.

If the printer and the mobile device recognize each other, you will see the available WLAN networks on the smartphone screen, from which you can select the desired wireless network and enter your access data.

The individual steps for installing Tango X in the WLAN are tracked on the display of the mobile device.
