Compact and lightweight, the HP LaserJet Pro M17w is simply one of the smallest monochrome laser printers on the market.
The build quality is in line with HP’s great guns, with a white plastic chassis that doesn’t have any finishing flaws.
The lower tray, which can hold up to 150 sheets of plain paper (80 g / m²), therefore has no flap that blocks the ream.
Although the small size of the printer and its wireless connection would be sufficient to discreetly place it on a small table, this placement is not possible because the sheets could fall.
All the more so since the two pins on either side of the paperpad basically only offer resistance. The top tray is more convenient, with a tab that flips down for once but extends the printer by nearly 8 inches.
Text rendering is particularly fine and sharp, even for the smallest font sizes. The graphics are equally flattering, with grays that stand out very clearly and perfectly straight lines, with no convergence issues.
The HP LaserJet Pro M17w runs at 18.2 pages per minute. A really good result, given this level of quality and the very compact size of the printer.
No automatic two-sided, but you will have to turn the sheets manually. Despite the lack of a scanner, it is possible to scan documents from the HP Print mobile application, using the photo sensor of a smartphone or tablet.
Simply point to a document and frame the area to be scanned. The items are then stored in the phone before being sent to the printer. You’ll be happy with just a USB 2.0 Type-B port and a Wi-Fi connection.
The printer is controlled from a computer or the HP Smart mobile app. It will be recognized immediately and you will have to use the official application to indicate the settings of your Wi-Fi network.
No direct WiFi, but simple and fast operation anyway, especially since the properties of the network are saved in the HP LaserJet Pro M17w printer.
