HP Deskjet Plus 4155 is a fairly basic model with new 305 series print cartridges, consists of a black pigment cartridge and a tri-color cartridge with firmly attached printheads. The print speed is around 8.5 ipm in black and white and very slow 5.5 ipm in standard quality color printing on plain paper.
All plain paper, photo paper, labels or envelopes can only be fed through an open top/back feed. HP specifies a capacity of approximately 60 sheets for plain paper.
Automatic double-sided printing is not possible. However, an assistant is offered through the driver, which asks you to turn it manually. Annoyingly, the printer doesn’t support borderless printing – this hinders photo printing.
For printing, the paper output tray must be opened and, depending on the length of the paper, also pulled out. There is then room for up to 35 sheets of printed pages. The HP Deskjet Plus 4155 has an A4 flatbed scanner with an attached ADF unit for automatic scanning of up to 35 originals.
As expected, automatic two-sided scanning is not possible. The printer is one of the quite rare multifunctional devices with ADF that does not offer a true fax.
HP aggressively promotes the “mobile fax”, which can be used free of charge for at least 24 months after purchase of the device. However, this service is currently free for shipping – receiving is not intended. In addition to USB, there is WiFi with 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz.
The standards Wifi-Direct with Bluetooth LE are supported for a fast connection. A fast connection can be established with the HP Smart app (Android, iOS or Windows).
However, Airprint, Mopria, and an Android printing plugin are also supported. The controls on the device itself are rudimentary. After all, there is a small screen with the number of copies and the raw ink level. There is also a shortcut for a black and white or color copy.
